Everyone’s granda or grandad is special, for Clare Clark her grandad is a little more special and known by millions.
At the age of 76 he has the medal that is cherished by every Celtic fan and in daily contact with Brendan Rodgers.
When the Celtic boss name checks him it’s not out of lip service or sentiment- John Clark knows his stuff and can recall first hand the greatest moments in Celtic’s history.
On top of Lisbon he was Billy McNeill’s assistant at the 4-2 match, recalled to be part of Wim Jansen’s backroom team that stopped 10-in-a-row and has been involved with every manager ever since from Martin O’Neill and Neil Lennon through to the latest Irishman at the helm.

As the legend of the Lisbon Lions grows with every passing event Clare Clark discovers the enormity of the achievements from the sixties onwards.
Rodgers’ squad created history yesterday by going through the season unbeaten but they are merely carrying the torch for a club and cause that burned brightest 50 years ago… in the Heat of Lisbon.
