Chris Sutton has taken another light hearted dig at Sevco cheer-leader Derek Johnstone.

Earlier in the season Sutton produced the radio highlight of the season when he slaughtered the Radio Clyde pundit live on the phone-in.

DJ had no response as Sutton struck with blow after blow highlighting how the former Ibrox striker had backed every chairman and manager at Ibrox without a word of criticism.

Despite generating incredible interest and follow up stories Sutton hasn’t been invited back on to the radio station.

With the awards season underway Sutton explained why the vote for the Players Player of the Year is the one that every professional cherishes.

The 2004 Players Player of the Year explained in the Daily Record: “You look at the names on the PFA list over the years and there are some great players on there.

Charlie Nicholas, Willie Miller, Andy Goram, Brian Laudrup, Henrik Larsson, yours truly… it’s not a bad list.

Even my old pal Derek Johnstone is on there. Too right, he was a great player in his day.

Derek would have probably voted for Joey Garner, mind you, but I don’t think most sensible folk would have too many complaints if Scott Sinclair or Moussa Dembele won it this year.

You could say the same for Stuart Armstrong and Jonny Hayes deserves to his have his name among the shortlist but for me the current players have missed out on one guy who had to be in the running.

The fact Scott Brown is not in the final four is baffling. Maybe his rivals hate playing him so much they couldn’t bring themselves to put his name on the voting slip. It’s a shame.

Brown has been the story of the season. Brendan Rodgers said he had one bad game this year but I must have missed it.”

Garner missed out on the Sevco Player of the Year Award with Kenny Miller picking up that achievement and also the Ibrox Player’s Player of the Year award.

Sinclair did the double with the internal Celtic awards.
