Brother Pedro is going to stop seven-in-a-row with a core of international all stars.

Core is the new buzzword with the fifth best coach in Qatar using it extensively after being told that he has the budget to topple Celtic.

How a loss making company with no overdraft facility, no audited accounts and a going concern warning manages to finance all that is anyone’s guess but it should be enough to ensure a 75% take up on season ticket sales.

With holding vehicle chairman Dave King about to face the consequences of ignoring the TAB things are going to get much much worse before they get better.

Should Sevco take anything less than nine points from their four remaining matches it may take more than soothing sound bites to convince the people that their club hasn’t recruited a bull-fighter in a poke to stop Celtic.

Shifting out a dozen of the current squad would be a fantastic starting point but with only Clint Hill and Pip Senderos out of contract there’s next to no chance of a clear out happening any time soon.

Sevco’s Europa League qualifying campaign begins on June 29 which gives Ped five weeks from the last match of this season to get things right to deliver the Europa League funds demanded by Dave King.

Discussing Celtic’s quest for 10-in-a-row the Ibrox boss told the Daily Record: “How many years have Celtic still to go? Well, we still have four years, right? We can compete and to compete at this club is to compete to win.

We hope next year that we can do it but it’s not a question of trying to stop Celtic. For us, it’s about getting that mentality and desire and that will to win and I am happy for us to be compared against Celtic.

We can challenge Celtic next season, if we bring in these players.

I’m not going to say the things that the fans want to hear, I only say things that I feel and that I’m confident about saying. I want to be realistic, if we get in the right core of players then things will be different.”

Turning to the financing of his title winning side he added about his boardroom relationship: “I’m being supported 100 per cent, we are in contact all the time.

We’re doing the things in order to get the core of the players playing that I presented and we have been doing things for almost the past month.

We’re discussing what’s happening on a daily basis with regard to the future. It’s about bringing in players at international level, with international experience.

Players that this club is used to having in the recent past, that is what we are bringing next season

We also have Scottish players in our core, if they are coming for the first time then they don’t know what Rangers is about.

It’s about producing a core list to the board and saying that this is going to be my core team.

Everything will move around that. Everything is organised according to the realistic situation at the club. I know how far I can go and that’s what I’m doing.”

This morning Sevco have been linked with the Peruvian Lionel Messi and the Moldovan Boab Malcolm, both of whom may be available on free transfers.

With all that core floating about Aberdeen may face a challenge for second place next season but Brother Pedro seems certain to be replaced by a RRM well before Christmas.
