Neil McCann has walked away from Dundee.

After a five match stint in charge at Dens Park the former Rangers (IL) winger has decided to return to Sky Sports on a full time basis.

McCann started off with two wins away to Motherwell and Kilmarnock, Dundee drew at home to Ross County before crashing to defeats against Inverness Caley Thistle and Hamilton Accies.

Following the 4-0 defeat at Hamilton McCann issued a scathing attack on the players which read like a farewell speech.

Last night Dundee’s Managing Director John Nelms told the club website: “On behalf of the entire Dundee Football Club family I’d like to thank Neil for his interim spell in charge. He came in and did the job we asked him to do.

The club once again owes Neil a debt of gratitude. Neil is certainly a credit to Dundee Football Club and Scottish football as a whole.”

It seems that the studio lights hold more appeal to McCann than the dressing room with the former Scotland star collecting a £500,000 EBT during his Ibrox years.

Income tax, national insurance, interest and a fine may now be due on that payment as the outcome of an appeal from BDO is made to the Supreme Court.
