Patrick Roberts has offered hope that he might be back at Celtic next season.

On Saturday at Hampden there was no farewell or goodbye gestures with the emotion of a treble winning season getting to the on loan Manchester City winger.

Roberts officially ends his loan to Celtic tomorrow but in a tweet sent out this morning there’s a very definite suggestion that Hampden may not have been his final Celtic appearance.

A number of clubs have approached City about taking the England youth internationalist out on loan but whether those options would be more productive than a return to Celtic is open for debate.

He may be able to hone his defensive skills or sit on the bench for a mid-table side in England or Germany but at Celtic he’ll be able to improve his attacking ability in domestic matches and hopefully test and challenge himself against European opponents as well.

As a wealthy 20-year-old it seems that Roberts has a desire to improve his game rather than jump at the biggest cash offer available.

A further loan to Celtic might not be ideal but a permanent move that gives City first refusal and a generous cut on any future transfer fee might be a solution that appeals to all parties.
