Desperate Pedro Caixinha has compared himself to Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers.
The new Ibrox boss has been overwhelmed by the scale of the problems at Ibrox as the company tries to keep fans onside and buying season tickets.
Caixinha’s naivety has been there for all to see as he tries to deal with the multitude of problems while keeping on message with expectations and demands.
When he does depart the club one scoreline will hover over his head more than any other and that’s Sevco 1-5 Celtic.
Most observers would suggest that the gulf between the teams that day was six or seven goals with Caixinha leaning nothing from a lesson handed out six days earlier at Hampden.
All the sound-bites in the world count for nothing when results and performances are dire with players bailing out the way at every opportunity.
A cynical dressing room of players have seen through Brother Pedro already with the Ibrox boss trying his best to associate himself with managers that know how to achieve results on the park.
“I know the Portuguese coaches’ philosophy and I know he drinks something from it and is trying to implement it,” Caixinha told the Daily Record referring to Ian Cathro of Hearts. “Do you need to be a top player to coach? What level did Brendan Rodgers play? What level did Mourinho play?”
Brother Pedro’s playing career may have reached similar low spots to Rodgers and Mourinho but by the age of 41 the current Manchester United boss had won the Champions League. At the same age Rodgers had led Liverpool to second place in the English Premier League and into the Champions League.
At the age of 46 Caixinha’s managerial CV is as blank as his playing career with less Petrofac Cup successes that Mark Warburton.
Mourinho and Rodgers will never be calling in the example of the fifth best coach in Qatar to justify their failings.
