Brendan Rodgers has hit out at the racism that Scott Sinclair has encountered in Scotland.

At the age of 28 he was the target for Ibrox racists on Saturday with one fan charged after being picked up by social media for gestures made at the Celtic forward.

Last night another lowlife surfaced on twitter and is having her views examined by Police Scotland.

Coming from the north east of Ireland Rodgers knows all about discrimination but in 2017 the Celtic boss is disappointed that Scotland hasn’t yet left the dark ages behind.

While the racism to Sinclair is disgusting it’s hardly surprising in a country where hatred of Catholics is treated as banter, for the hard of thinking it’s difficult to realise that articulating your hatred of Catholics is fine but the same sentiments for black people can’t be dismissed with a shrug of the shoulders.

Addressing the matter Rodgers told The Sun: “Racism, whether it’s football or society, there is absolutely no place for it.

Scotty has been playing the game for quite a long time and it says something it’s the first time he has come across it in his life.

He is absolutely fine. He has got all the support of all the people here and supporters, and he moves on from it.

It shows that education and training is needed to stamp it out as it should never come into play at all.”

The SFA and SPFL haven’t commented on the weekend incidents at Ibrox which also involved a fan on the park trying to get at Scott Brown plus missiles including a battery thrown at Celtic players.

Four stewards did prevent Leigh Griffiths from typing a Celtic scarf to the goalposts.
