What a weekend it was for Mikey Johnston!
As if making an impressive first team debut wasn’t enough the boy from Stepps picked up a new three year contract after the win over St Johnstone and 8,000 new followers on twitter.
Standing in for multiple Player of the Year award winner Scott Sinclair was quite an endorsement from Brendan Rodgers but one that the 18-year-old handled with style.

There were a few ‘Mikey Moments during the first half as he showed his confidence on the ball with a variety of tricks and touches that have made him a stand out throughout his career.
After the break he was the creator of the opening goal. After taking on and troubling a few Saints defenders he laid off the perfect ball to Patrick Roberts, continued his own run to occupy two defenders then looked on as Roberts scored from 25 yards out.
As he walked off the park shortly afterwards he got a great ovation from the fans with a three year contract about to be signed.
Having made a big impact on his debut the tricky bit now gets underway- pressing his way into Rodgers plans on a regular basis.
