King slams Celtic

Dave King thinks that Celtic should be even further ahead of Sevco than they presently are.

The out of touch company chairman attended one match last season as his #goingfor55 campaign became a laughing stock.

Sevco finished up in third place in the SPFL trailing Celtic by 39 points and humiliated in both cup competitions by the hoops who clinched all three domestic trophies.

Twelve months ago the South African based criminal was predicting a close run for the title as he basked in the aftermath of a penalty shoot out win over the hoops in the Scottish Cup.

Rather than quietly go about overhauling Aberdeen the absentee chairman decided to pick faults with the treble winners after being summoned to the UK and being told that Sports Direct were terminating their Ibrox contract.

Discussing his targets for the new season King told The Sun: “I think realistically running Celtic close would be good.

They’re coming off a high and it’ll be difficult for them to repeat what they did for obvious reasons.

In footballing terms, I don’t think Celtic are as far ahead as they could have been — certainly with our new signings.

Given that we were in the wilderness for four years I don’t think that Celtic did as much in that four years as they could have done.

We are clearly behind them squad-wise, but I really would expect to give them a run.

You never know how the season is going to go and I certainly don’t expect a repeat of last

season.

For the resources we had, relative to Aberdeen, we should have been somewhere in between.

If we had been 16 behind Celtic and 16 ahead of them that would be right in terms of us out-spending.”

In the last meeting between the two Glasgow clubs Celtic won 5-1 at Ibrox- six days after winning 2-0 at Hampden in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.
