Sevco have signed the new Luis Suarez- according to the agent for Alfredo Morelos.
The Ibrox club announced the signing of the uncapped Columbian yesterday with the same sort of hype that greeted the arrivals of Martyn Waghorn, Joe Dodoo and Joe Garner.
Yesterday, in a closed doors match against The New Saints of Wales, Morelos failed to find the net in a 1-1 draw.
A record of 11 goals in 12 games for HJK Helsinki has brought comparisons with Barrie McKay with the agent for Morelos happy to feed delusions through the Daily Record.
“Rangers are getting an extremely talented young player who is hungry to do well,” Jonne Lindblom said. “I know he will end up playing in one of the big four or five leagues in the future.
“He is 20-years-old, his scoring record is really impressive. He’s a brilliant finisher, he’s strong, he’s technical, he works hard and he’s improving all the time. That’s why I expect he’ll go even further than Rangers.
“There was interest from all around Europe but we wanted to be careful with the next step. As soon as we found out the interest from Rangers we quite quickly figured out that was the perfect club for him to take the next step.
“In terms of his style of play he reminds me a bit of Luis Suarez. Obviously only one of them is a world class player but, in terms of how he controls the ball, how he shoots in really small spaces without needing a lot of time. Once he gets the ball at his feet inside the box he will shoot and usually he scores.
“But I think the most interesting thing is what every defender in Finland has been saying is that, for a boy who has only just turned 20, he’s really strong. I don’t think he’ll have any problems adapting the physical side of Scottish football.”
Morelos arrived in Glasgow after the Mexican duo of Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera had jetted in to describe dream moves to the European giants.
During the time that a work permit and visa were processed and a transfer fee paid to HJK Helsinki the deals for the Mexican duo seem to have fallen into the slow lane.
The deadline for signings for the first round of the Europa League passed yesterday but UEFA have still to publish the squad lists.
