Sevco’s first ever UEFA campaign ended in humiliation tonight as they lost 2-0 away to Progres Niederkorn to crash out on a 2-1 aggregate.

The fifth best coach in Qatar had no answer to the fourth best side in Luxembourg despite splashing out £10m on stars during a summer spending spree.

Taking a 1-0 lead from the first leg at Ibrox Pedro’s side were sunk by two goals midway through the second half as the part-timers celebrated their first ever European victory at the seventh time of asking.

Caixinha fielded a team without any green boots but as the home side went about their business the club from Ibrox were left badly exposed.

Not even the slickest PR campaign in the world will be able to deflect attention away from the result which leaves the Ibrox club staring at the financial abyss.

With no chance of a Europa League windfall the pressure will increase on soft loans to keep the lights on with the wage bill ballooning.

Caixinha should be OK having signed a three year contract in February and fooled the gullibles with the introduction of We Are The People signs at Ibrox.

BBC Radio Scotland are expected to announce a week of mourning #prayforpedro
