Celtic’s Development side continued their build up to the new season with a 4-1 win away to Elgin City in a testimonial for Mark Nicolson.

A first half double from Jack Aitchison put Celtic in control with PJ Crossan and Wallace Duffy netting after the break.

Tommy McIntyre made three changes to the team that beat East Kilbride 3-1 on Saturday with Jamie McCart, Kerr McInroy and PJ Crossan in the starting XI.

Aitchison opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a low shot past the home keeper then doubled the lead on the half hour after creating space in the box to shoot home from 15 yards out.

Midway through the second half Crossan got on the scoresheet with Duffy putting Celtic 4-0 up in the 84th minute before the hosts grabbed a consolation.

The big date for the young hoops is August 16 when they travel to Annan in the first round of the Irn Bru Cup with McIntyre’s side hoping to go further than last season when they lost in the second round at Livingston.
