Anderlecht’s miserable form continued yesterday with a 2-2 draw away to Kortrijk.

Fresh from their 3-0 defeat away to Bayern Munich it took a 76th minute equaliser from Henri Onyekuru to give the Brussels side a point.

The draw leaves Anderlecht in ninth place in the table with nine points from seven matches which leaves then trailing nine points behind leaders Club Brugge.

Swiss coach Rene Weiler was booed by his own fans with the pressure mounting ahead of the visit of Celtic in the Champions League next Wednesday.

After yesterday’s draw he said: “We got a hard blow after 2-1 but we pushed for the win, the group tried everything, the players always showed that they have character.

This is a strong group that works well, I do not understand. I also find the criticism too virulent.”

On Wednesday Anderlecht travel to Second Division Westerlo in the Belgian Cup before another way day, at Beveren on Saturday ahead of the match against Celtic.

With just one win in their last six matches confidence is low with the Belgian side with Weiler, who took charge in June 2016 the target for criticism rather than the players.
