Dedryck Boyata will start for Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday.

The defender featured for 66 minutes in last night’s 4-0 over Dundee after suffering a knee injury in a pre-season friendly against Sparta Prague.

Brendan Rodgers has been forced into a variety of different defensive combinations this season with Nir Bitton, Kristoffer Ajer and Mikael Lustig all featuring.

Celtic finished last season with Boyata and Jozo Simunovic together at the back with the pairing likely to start Saturday’s match with Sevco.

He got a good hour in and it’s nice to see him back,” Rodgers told The Sun about Boyata. “He’s a big presence in the team and very dominant.

Dedryck came through very well and I’d have no doubts about playing him on Saturday. We were very good, very professional – and played with a nice calmness in the game.

We had to work them around the pitch because Dundee started with good organisation, so we had to be patient.

What we did very well tonight was we had a rest with the ball. We are always hungry to get the ball and the counter-pressing was good.

If you are going to rest in a game, rest with the football. It’s a lot harder when you don’t have the ball and you need to chase it.”

Rodgers will have some major decisions to make for Saturday’s match but they won’t be governed by injury concerns.

With James Forrest scoring twice in the last two matches it seems unlikely that he can be left out of the trip to Ibrox.

Patrick Roberts played in behind Leigh Griffiths last night but with Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong available that position is likely to be the one that Rodgers is giving most thought to.
