Pedro Caixinha has praised the SFA for not punishing Josh Windass for the hand gesture that he made at Partick Thistle supporters.

The former Accrington Stanley ace was caught on camera making the gesture as he appealed to Thistle fans to return the ball during Sevco’s 2-2 draw at Firhill on Friday.

Lee Higden and Leigh Griffiths had previously received band for gestures made to their own fans but yesterday afternoon it emerged that the SFA Compliance Officer had looked at the incident and decided not to take any action.

The recent incident involving Neil Lennon at Ibrox seems to have created a new precedent with Caixinha agreeing with the decision.

What happened before is one situation, if it happens again, the decision has to be the same,” the Sevco boss told The SunI am not a lawyer, but I know it is like this.”

After admitting that the SFA made the right decision Caixinha claimed that he hasn’t witnessed the incident but may take action against Windass.

He added: “First of all, I don’t know what he did or did not do but if he did something, of course he needs to understand he cannot do that.

I don’t want my players to behave like that. I want them to be focused on the game because it is inside the pitch where you can change the course of things, not in the stand.”

Sevco return to Firhill tonight with Lee Wallace out injured and Kenny Miller rested for the League Cup tie.
