James Forrest wants Celtic to better last season’s 5-1 demolition when the hoops return to Ibrox on Saturday.

In April Brendan Rodgers’ side followed up a third gear 2-0 win over Sevco in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup with a 5-1 hammering at Ibrox.

It could have been much more than five with one goal disallowed and a number of baffling decisions by John Beaton and his assistants.

A win on Saturday would put the hoops eight ahead of Sevco after seven matches and pile the pressure onto under fire Ibrox boss Pedro Caixinha.

Can we do better? Yes, that is what it is all about,” Forrest told the Daily Record after his double against Ross County.

It is about getting better and doing even more. We will be going there and looking for another positive result.

Would it sent out a message? You can say that. I think that is what happened last year with the 5-1 game at Celtic Park.

Most of the games were closer apart from the last one at Ibrox. We know it is going to be hard and we want to come out with a win.”

Before the visit to Ibrox Celtic are in League Cup action away to Dundee on Wednesday, 24 hours after Sevco return to Firhill to face Thistle in the same competition.

With Moussa Dembele scoring against Ross County the hoops have a fresh striking option but Rodgers will have one eye on the Champions League clash with Anderlecht when he takes his side to Ibrox.
