Hard up Sevco failed to sign Jamie Walker from Hearts for the sake of £200,000.

Despite being able to spend millions of pounds in the Mexican market in June the Ibrox company were unable to come up with the £1m fee needed to bring the midfielder along the M8.

Following the failed blueprint that resulted in Scott Allan joining Celtic two years ago Sevco followed up some low ball bids with tales being released about how unhappy Walker was with Hearts and the frustration of missing out on a dream move.

With Aberdeen picking up a fee of £1.3m for a 30-year-old during the summer Walker wasn’t being held to ransom with a £1m price tag. Perhaps if he was was at a Mexican club negotiations would have been smoother.

In a late flurry of activity Joe Dodoo was sent on loan to Charlton until January joining Micky O’Halloran, Harry Forrester and Andy Halliday clinging on to their lucrative Ibrox contacts and likely to outlast the manager keen to remove them from the wage bill.

Meanwhile Sevco Championship winning hero Dom Ball has joined Aberdeen on a season long loan from Rotherham.
