The knives were out for Gordon Strachan after Scotland failed to reach World Cup play-offs.
A 2-2 draw away to Slovenia put paid to the hopes of ending a 20 year absence from the finals of major tournaments.
It was all in Scotland’s hands to reach the play-off after beating Slovakia on Thursday night while Slovenia lost a late goal to England at Wembley.
Been a Strachan fan all the way and we’ve made progress but to not play McGregor or Forrest tonight when we needed goals away is dreadful.??

The manager not the players is the problem. Strachan doesn’t rate football in Scotland. self-loathing. He can gettae

Nice of Strachan to invite McGregor and McGinn along to watch his favourites play…

A simple observation : There’s not 1 single non Celtic player in that Scotland side I could see Rodgers giving a regular 1st team spot to!

Leigh Griffiths scored against the run of play midway through the first half but a double from Roman Bezjak after the break pushed Slovakia into second spot as they took care of Malta.
Robert Snodgrass did equalise in the 87th minute but despite five minutes of stoppage time and being up against ten men there was no last gasp winner.
The result left Scotland in third spot with Slovakia waiting to see if they will go forward to the play-off’s in November for the last four European spots in Russia.
