Mikael Lustig will play from the start of Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg tonight.

The Celtic defender missed out on training at the start of the week but will in his usual role of right-back when Jan Andersson’s side go for three points to take into their final qualifier away to Holland on Tuesday.

Brendan Rodgers will be keeping a close watch on the match with Celtic’s defensive options already under attack.

Jozo Simunovic was unable to meet up with the Bosnian national side with various reports relating to the extent of his hamstring injury.

After weeks of injury problems in central defence Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata played together against Sevco and Anderlecht but now that partnership is under threat due to the injury to the former Dinamo Zagreb stopper.

Lustig would be the natural replacement if Simunovic is injured but if there is a doubt over the Swede Rodgers would need to choose between a three man central defence or bring in Nir Bitton or Kristoffer Ajer.

Celtic are also watching the recovery of Stuart Armstrong and Scott Brown who both missed the draw with Hibs and Scotland duty.
