Joey Barton has attempted to back-track from his below the belt twitter comments last night.
The so-called thinking footballer (or former footballer) spent three months at Sevco last year and has since commented on their wonderful traditions.
Yesterday afternoon Barton was pushing for Graeme Souness to come in as manager but seems very selective on the Ibrox traditions that he wishes to associate with.
Careful with the kids and Celtic in the same sentence Michael. Don’t want folk getting the wrong idea again. https://t.co/pHxl71yiLY

Seems I have upset a section of the Celtic fans. Think you have misread my comment back. I’ve never heard of any child abuse at Celtic. (1)

I was simply stating that the guy shouldn’t put my kids and Celtic in the same sentence because Celtic fans like to claim, I’m a Celtic fan.

Which I’m not. Neither are my kids. Other than going to RC school as a kid and being bought a Celtic jersey as a kid by my gran.

To jump to me making jokes about child abuse. I’ve never heard or read of any child abuse at Celtic. How could I make a joke about it?

After a 5-1 hammering from Celtic and footballing lesson from Scott Brown Barton’s Sevco career came to a halt following a team meeting two days after that defeat.
Barton was suspended by the club on full pay as news emerged that he had been betting on football matches.
After six weeks suspended a pay-off deal was agreed with the midfielder returning to Burnley in January.
Further evidence of football betting emerged with the former Sevco ace hit with an 18 month ban by the FA which was reduced to 13 after an appeal.
