Sevco have started their mind games with Aberdeen over Derek McInnes.

On Friday morning the usual trusted sources revealed that the Dons boss was the number one choice to replace Pedro Caixinha with McInnes questioned over the weekend.

An approach was expected on Monday or Tuesday but the reality of compensation and the need to spin things to supporters has resulted in a change of tact this morning.

Rangers will not be rushed into making a move for Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.

Record Sport understands, while the name of McInnes is high on the Ibrox club’s list of candidates to replace Pedro Caixinha, reports claiming they will today make an official approach to Dons chairman Stewart Milne are wide of the mark.”

Following regime change in March 2015 newly blazered director Paul Murray praised the Daily Record for it’s courageous journalism.

Over the weekend word was put out that funds were in place for compensation with Michel Preud’homme also mentioned in connection with the Ibrox vacancy.

With Douglas Park forking out for the Caixinha experiment it’s unlikely that any of the three bears will be increasing their losses by funding another vanity product.

Wins over Partick Thistle and Dundee will give Graeme Murty the three in a row that eluded Caixinha and pave the way for a Murty and Miller dream ticket to remain in control until the end of the season, hoping to cash in on undermining Aberdeen and McInnes.
