The Tartan Army have snubbed Scotland.

There will be at least 7,000 empty seats at Hampden tonight for the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia despite the home side being in contention for a play-off place.

Slovakia have had a request for additional tickets knocked back with around 45,000 fans expected at Hampden tonight. Embarrassingly for the SFA the North Stand facing the television cameras will be where the bulk of the empty seats will be.

A multitude of reasons have been put forward for the lack of support with many grass-roots fans sickened by the way that the SFA pander to clubs from Ibrox when it comes to governing the game.

At last month’s match against Malta Stewart Regan got involved in a twitter row in which he was shown not to know the ticket prices for the game.

Tickets for the North Stand cost £40 but non season-ticket holding Celtic fans have rushed to pay £50 and £55 for Champions League matches.

Celtic’s Champions League away matches are even more expensive but around 10,000 hoops fans are expected in Munich in a fortnight time paying 80 and 100 euros for tickets.

With 7,000 seays lying empty the SFA are set to take a £250,000 hit from stay away fans, last week Celtic’s home match with Hibs sold out four days ahead of kick off.
