Moussa Dembele hit a hat-trick in 12 minutes for the French u-21 side away to Slovenia.

The Celtic striker was substituted in Friday’s win over Bulgaria but was bang on form tonight away to Slovenia in a European Championship qualifier.

Dembele levelled the scores from the penalty spot in the 34th minute, scored with an opportunist back post shot in the 41st minute then curled in a Scott Sinclair type strike in stoppage time to put the French well in control at the break. There was no scoring in the second half.

The young Celtic striker was initially named in the full French squad but was selected for the u-21 side giving him two competitive matches to make an impression in.

French boss Didier Deschamps is spoiled for choice in attack with Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette, Anthony Martial and Olivier Giroud all competing for a starting spot.

Dembele will have his work cut out to make it into the World Cup Finals squad but has the perfect opportunity to impress next week when Paris Saint Germain host Celtic in the Champions League.
