Henning Berg is the latest name to apply for the Sevco manager’s job with Legia Warsaw stamped all over his CV.

In 2014 the Norwegian was in charge of Legia Warsaw when they lost out to Celtic in a Champions League qualifier despite winning the first leg 4-1 in Poland.

Berg’s decision to send Bartosz Bereszynski on as a late substitute earned Celtic a 3-0 win with the hoops going through to the Play Off stage thanks to Callum McGregor’s precious away goal.

According to the Daily Record, Berg, who is currently out of management, has applied for the job which provides a distraction from the inevitable confirmation that Graham Murty is getting the job on a permanent basis.

Steve McClaren, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Alan Pardew and Michael O’Neill have all been heavily touted for the job alongside Derek McInnes.

Sevco’s financial problems were highlighted in the recently published accounts which virtually rules out the chances of compensation being paid for a new manager.

In 2012 Berg won just one out of ten matches in charge of Blackburn Rovers before being sacked and moving on to jobs with Legia Warsaw and Videoton.
