Celtic’s Academy have been celebrating the success of two of their top graduates.

Various figures have come out in recent weeks detailing the number of players to have come through the ranks and their progress in the game.

Every week there are dozens of former Celtic youth team players in action across the Premiership with the ultimate goal to play in the Champions League.

Last week Callum McGregor took that a step further with a goal against Bayern Munich, last night he was on international duty earning an overdue first full international cap.

The midfielders achievement has been put in the shade by Kieran Tierney captaining Scotland at the age of 20 but there isn’t any hint of jealousy from McGregor or any of Tierney’s team-mates.

Two years ago Tierney was taking his first steps into the Celtic first team with his emergence and the goals of Leigh Griffiths the only redeaming features in Ronny Deila’s second season in charge.

Since edging past Emilio Izaguirre and Tyler Blackett there has been no stopping the bhoy from Wishaw with last week’s six year contract wildly celebrated among the Celtic support.
