Mikael Lustig has edged out Jackie McNamara by just 18 votes in a poll for the best Celtic right back of the last 30 years.

Over 3,000 votes were split between the two defenders in a Video Celts poll with Tom Boyd not far behind in the three way poll.

McNamara spent a decade at the club playing his part in stopping the ten as well as starring under Martin O’Neill.

Current players tend to far strongly in these sort of votes but it’s clear that a decade after his last match for the club McNamara is still highly regarded.

Last week at Hampden Lustig was picking up another winners medal with his third League Cup gong with a seventh SPL/SPFL medal looking likely at the end of the season.

Looking back at a historic period for the club Video Celts is completing a fans poll to find the best Celtic XI since 1988.

Artur Boruc edged out Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon for the goalkeeping place with voting starting later today to find the club’s best left-back.
