Who will join Artur Boruc and Mikael Lustig at left-back as Video Celts looks to find the best Celtic XI since the Centenary Season?

According to all recent logic there is only one likely winner with Kieran Tierney sweeping the boards any time social media gets hold of a football poll.

You name it he’ll win it, best striker in the EPL- it’s KT, best young defender in Europe it’s yer man from Wishaw.

For a decade until Emilio Izaguirre was signed left-back was a real problem area for Celtic with Lee Naylor briefly giving hope that it had been resolved.

Back in season 87/88 Anton Rogan was the man, charging up and down the left flank, chucking in crosses, flying into tackles and smashing headers off Andy Walker’s chest to score winners at Ibrox.

It was a few years before Rogan was replaced but whoever wins this poll will be well worth the jersey as the Celtic support put together a high quality XI covering very different eras in the club history.

TOSH MCKINLAY

It took him a little while and stop offs at Dundee and Hearts before he finally got to wear the jersey that he always wanted.

During the grim 94/5 season spent at Hampden McKinley brought a touch of class and composure to the position and famously put a cross on a plate for Pierre van Hooijdonk to score against Airdrie and end a six year trophy drought.

He thrived back at Celtic Park but there was to be no more trophies as Tommy Burns’ reign came to an end.

Stephane Mahe effectively ended his playing days at Celtic but he just switched back to wearing a scarf and is now on the scouting staff.

EMILIO IZAGUIRRE

A real left field signing who looked like a £10m player in his first season at the club.

Izzy was in that great batch of signings that Neil Lennon brought in which included Joe Ledley, Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes.

Sadly an ankle break at Aberdeen took something from his game although he was still more than effective as the current era of dominance kicked off.

A former ball boy was waiting in the wings, a red card against Ajax opened the door to KT with Izzy left on the sidelines although his professionalism never wavered, or his love for the club.

KIERAN TIERNEY

The man that ended the need for polls. What more can be said for the 20 year old who has made over 100 appearances for the hoops, has captained club and country and is on his way to a third championship medal.

Well the good news is that he is getting better and stronger with each passing week and is clearly a future captain.

His life has been well chronicled through social media and is the example for every kid that starts training with the Celtic academy.

There will be plenty more honours to come his way but Tosh and Izzy face a tough fight to earn a place in this Celtic side up against KT.
