Celtic’s 2-0 win over Partick Thistle was no surprise to Chris Sutton.

While a frenzy had been built up following the 4-0 defeat to Hearts the BT Sport pundit took a more detached view of that result as he anticipated Celtic bouncing back from having their unbeaten run brought to an end.

Kristoffer Ajer, Stuart Armstrong and Odsonne Edouard returned to the starting XI with the former Dundee United midfielder opening the scoring 10 minutes before half time.

Kieran Tierney put the match beyond Thistle by becoming the first Celtic player to score in the 67th minute since the fans started the ‘torchlight’ salute to the Lisbon Lions.

The win lifted Celtic five points clear of second placed Aberdeen who visit the hoops on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers had no fresh injuries to report after last night’s match with Jonny Hayes putting in a good 30 minutes after replacing James Forrest ahead of the visit of his former club.
