Jackson’s Ibrox attack

Keith Jackson has launched an astonishing attack on the Ibrox board- lumping the current directors in with the regime that were removed from power in March 2015.

After that change of regime Paul Murray praised the courageous journalism of the Daily Record, a sentiment that is unlikely to be shared this morning.

The six week campaign to take Derek McInnes to Ibrox came to a sudden halt last Thursday but the ramifications are likely to be long lasting with the credibility of the Ibrox board shot to pieces.

Failing to land McInnes was bad enough but the pettiness of the Sevco statement will ensure that only the most desperate of individuals will consider following in the footsteps of Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha.

Summing up his anger in today’s Daily Record Jackson claims: “In rejecting their advances, the 46-year-old (McInnes) and his chairman Stewart Milne have also conducted themselves with the kind of dignity and professionalism which went missing from the top of the old marble staircase six years ago, along with the Arsenal shares.

The Rangers chain of command, in all their various guises since those dark days, have at least remained consistent in one regard. They have been profoundly lacking in class throughout.

The official but anonymous statement which greeted the news that McInnes had chosen to stay at Pittodrie was an outrageous insult not only to the man himself but also to the intelligence of every single Rangers supporter.

It reeked of a Dave King hissy fit and, given his penchant for the use of the word ‘concomitant’, it seems reasonable to assume he was very much involved in the drafting of this abomination.”

If relations between the Daily Record and the King regime have allowed this comment to be published things must be at rock bottom.

In March Pedro Caixinha was given the red carpet treatment as he arrived at Ibrox promising a European trophy with no one questioning his claims.

Whoever succeeds him can now expect a highly critical time making a difficult job almost impossible.
