Sinclair on the goals trail

‘Off form’ Scott Sinclair is happy to let his stats do the talking.

Yesterday against Hibs the Celtic winger took his tally for the season to 14 which is four more than he managed at the same stage last term.

Sinclair had been substituted at half-time against Anderlecht but that decision was largely down to the kicking that he’d taken at home to Motherwell at the weekend.

A fully fit Sinclair is Celtic’s most consistent goal threat and a first pick in any team selected by Brendan Rodgers.

After the 2-2 draw with Hibs Sinclair told the Evening Times: “If you are judging me on stats then I have scored 14 goals this season already. At a similar stage last season I think I was on 10.

So I have to be pleased with that. It is not always easy. Every game is hard because everyone wants to beat us and to stop the run.

We controlled the game and were so comfortable. We had so many chances that we should have put away so it did feel like we threw the game away.”

With Patrick Roberts out injured Rodgers will have to use his wingers carefully during the six remaining matches in December.

Jonny Hayes and Mikey Johnston could become involved with the midweek home matches against Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle the obvious games for squad rotation.

Yesterday’s draw at Hibs lifted Celtic five points ahead of Aberdeen and Sevco with today’s focus returning to Europe with the draw for the Europa League taking place at 12 noon Celtic Park Time.
