Celtic have been linked with a January move for Marvin Compper.
According to respected German magazine Kicker Celtic ave expressed an interest but it could well be a story inspired by an agent looking to put the defender in the spotlight.
Compper will be out of contract with RD Leipzig in May and has only made three top team appearances so far this season.
Brendan Rodgers has already gone on record as wanting to strengthen his defence in January but it’s open to debate whether a 32-year-old with limited first team experience would fit the bill.
The loss of two goals yesterday to Hibs confirmed the need to strengthen the Celtic defence.
During the summer the hoops missed out on a move for Rivaldo Coetzee from Cape Town Ajax then were hampered by injuries to Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic.
With European football secured after Christmas there is an extra incentive to strengthen in January but it’s probably odds against Compper being a genuine transfer target.
