Rodgers and The Chimp Paradox

Brendan Rodgers has binned the Big Book of Football Cliches in favour of The Chimp Paradox!

The Irishman has studied management deeply but unlike some that prefer to hide behind buzzwords and Power Point Presentations he puts theory into action on the football pitch.

Rodgers doesn’t come out with anger after set-backs, he analyses, adjusts his side’s approach and works round the clock on improving his players. He doesn’t blame the world.

It would have been easy for the Celtic boss to hit out this week.

i) Moussa Dembele will only miss two or three matches rather than two or three months following a brutal challenge that escaped the attention of the SFA Compliance Officer.

ii) Half a dozen pundits on the state broadcaster effectively called one of his players a cheat.

iii) The SPFL computer has programmed three matches against the same club ahead of a vital European tie.

Rodgers has been an island of peace and tranquillity since taking on the Celtic job 18 months ago and offered some sombre thoughts against a week of anger from Fir Park.

Speaking to the Daily Record he explained: “There are always emotions after games, especially when you lose a cup final, and that’s why I never go too strongly about what people are saying.

When the chimp calms down and you get the human side it’s all OK. I try never to provoke the chimp. It’s all raging inside you. Read the book – The Chimp Paradox.”

It’s unlikely that the people angry over Celtic’s first two penalties of the season will be leading through Rodgers’ recommended reading.
