Sutton hits out at whinging Motherwell

|

Chris Sutton has told Motherwell to stop whinging and feeling sorry for themselves.

Since last Sunday’s Betfred Cup Final defeat from Celtic at Hampden there has been one moan after another coming out of the club culminating in Grant Russell’s widely ridiculed statement on Thursday night.

Stephen Robinson wisely kept a distance from that statement as he looked towards today’s game at Celtic Park and attempted to put a focus on football.

The statement and ridiculous claims of Andy Rose have made the club a laughing stock when they should be taking some consolation from being within two minutes of ending Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run.

Their tactics may be brutal, ask Moussa Dembele, but this season they’ve come much closer to upsetting the hoops that Aberdeen and Sevco who were both comfortably turned over in front of their own fans by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Summing up the mood music from Fir Park Sutton told the Daily Record‘s army or readers: “There is an element of Motherwell whingeing and making life difficult for themselves. The standard of refereeing in Scotland hasn’t been good enough for a long time but I do now believe people are starting to focus on every little thing with Celtic.

If I was at one of the other clubs I’d feel I’d missed a trick as Celtic haven’t been at the top of their game. It will all start to click again and they’ll get back to being free-flowing and there won’t be as many team changes.

To go 66 games unbeaten is to also get through tough periods. Decisions will go against you – but this is a side showing unbelievable belief.

Any side going to challenge has to show a consistency against the rest of the teams but the Premiership is a league where all the other clubs are taking points off one another.

For other teams who want to take the scalp of Celtic my advice would be to not leave things to chance.

Kevin Clancy will referee today’s match between Celtic and Motherwell.
