Chris Sutton feels that the current Celtic side has the belief to take on and beat the big names.

Although the hoops managed to finish third in Group B to reach the last 32 of the Europa League the 1-0 home defeat from Anderlecht left the fans deflated.

Five defeats out of six was a poor return especially after the early promise of a 3-0 win away to Anderlecht.

It was a nervy performance from the hoops tonight with the first half virtually a write off in terms of chances for the home side.

Brendan Rodgers replaced Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong with Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic at the interval.

Celtic edged the second half possession but an own goal from Jozo Simunovic summed up the night as Celtic crashed to their third successive home defeat in the competition with Rodgers disappointed by the result despite the consolation of European football after Christmas to look forward to.
