SFA Compliance Officer Tony McGlennan should have plenty to divert his attention away from the 2012 UEFA licence given to Rangers (IL) after yesterday’s shameful scenes at the Motherwell v Hamilton match.

Motherwell’s grim run of form continued with a 3-1 defeat to their Lanarkshire rivals but nothing that happened during the 90 minutes can excuse the shameful scenes at the full time whistle.

As the Accies players took the acclaim of their fans Well keeper Trevor Carson appeared on the scene with team-mate Peter Hartley racing to the scene and knocking Dougie Imrie to the deck.

After that players from both teams joined in with referee Andrew Dallas struggling to restrain the brawl.

It remains to be seen if the SFA will look at fan footage of the incident or whether they will rely on the match report from Dallas.

Hamilton’s win takes them to just a point behind Motherwell with just six points separating sixth placed Kilmarnock from Partick Thistle in the relegation play off position.
