McInnes misses training

Less than two weeks after stating his commitment to Aberdeen Derek McInnes was absent from training today- two days before the Dons face Dundee.

Last night Aberdeen dismissed a request from Sevco to speak to the Dons boss as the long running saga reached a new level.

Missing training today is likely to be the final straw for Aberdeen fans who have began to read between the lines from McInnes who has never ruled out a move to Ibrox.

As recently as Sunday the former Bristol City boss was highly critical of the media campaign to move him to Ibrox but now it looks like all parties are indulging a game of damage limitation.

With their manager not taking training Aberdeen are likely to ‘reluctantly agree’ to allow Sevco to talk to their manager rather than hold him to his contract.

Rather than get embroiled in a stand off or legal battle an undisclosed fee of around £500,000 to be paid in instalments will be agreed giving Sevco their new manager and Stewart Milne some crumbs of consolation.

While Aberdeen brag about complying with Financial Fair Play in their accounts within the space of a year they will have lost their manager and captain to a club avoiding administration thanks to three years of soft loans from directors.
