Crystal Palace are the latest club linked with a move for Charlie Mulgrew, according to a report in the Croydon Advertiser.

The former Celtic defender with an eye for goal has been in outstanding form for Blackburn Rovers with Southampton and Burnley also believed to be keen.

When his Celtic deal expired in the summer of 2016 there was no rush of offers but after scoring 11 times as captain of Blackburn clubs are starting to show interest in the 2012 Scottish Player of the Year.

Mulgrew is under contract until June 2019 but Blackburn would find it difficult to turn down a fee of £2m after picking up the 31-year-old on a free transfer.

Despite suffering relegation from the Championship last season Mulgrew was considered to be a success with Blackburn.

Tony Mowbray’s side are sitting in second place in League One, five points behind Burnley , with Mulgrew scoring in four consecutive games at the end of November and beginning of December.

Former Celt Dylan McGeouch is believed to be a transfer target for Aberdeen.
