Edging towards the Madden story

The Evening Times has edged towards the Bobby Madden story but like the continuation myth shifted the goalposts.

Last week Celtic Quick News published some vague but serious allegations about the referee, a little bit different from the fairly well established fact that he was a season ticket holder for a club that went into liquidation in 2012.

Only last week the SFA handed out a pathetic £1,000 fine to an Aberdeen director that had bet on a number of football matches including one in which he backed Celtic to beat his team.

Either the SFA are serious about betting issues or everyone can punt away knowing that if caught a slap on the wrist is on it’s way.

Rather than deny that Madden was an active supporter of a dead club or question why the SFA don’t have similar rules to the FA in England about what matches officials can referee in the Evening Times took the easy options.

Because Madden didn’t have as bad a game as he had in March Celtic fans should be grateful!

Because Kieran Tierney didn’t require hospital treatment for a face injury we should applaud Madden?

Celtic were poor on Saturday, very poor, they were their own worst enemies. Turning in a flat performances with only three players close to form, the rest were miles off the pace.

That responsibility falls on Brendan Rodgers, he makes the big decisions and is accountable.

Who is accountable for Madden?

Great he loves football and refereeing but it is beyond a joke that he is allowed to influence matches in front of the same supporters that he used to sit amongst and sing the songs of hate that no sane society would tolerate never mind encourage.
