Celtic haven’t received a single bid for Moussa Dembele.

The final week of 2017 was filled with speculation linking the striker with a move to England.

Sky Sports claimed that a fee was agreed between Celtic and Brighton with Stoke City also reported to have made a move.

Brendan Rodgers has been dealing with speculation about Dembele since the striker scored twice against Manchester City in September 2016 and is relaxed as he navigates his way through another transfer window.

Moussa is at a stage in his career where he needs to keep proving that he can play for Celtic, whatever comes from that will come,” the Celtic boss told The Sun.

Speculation can be very unhelpful for a young player. If you are an experienced player you get used to it but if you’ve been linked with so many clubs over a period of time, then it surely can be unsettling.

It’s not something that ends up being good for a player. There has been a lot of noise around Moussa for 18 months now — but let’s be clear, we’ve not had one bid.

He’s been linked with about 16 clubs, but the bottom line is you have to play football. Be ready to play and then, if a move comes, it comes.

I don’t want to speak about speculation because it has been non-stop and I think it could hinder the development of a player, not just Moussa.

There have been enquiries around him, but not one bid.”

After sparkling for Celtic last season Dembele has struggled for form and been rotated with Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard for a place in Rodgers’ Celtic side.

A pre-season hamstring injury and a bad ankle knock picked up in the final of the Betfred Cup have hampered his progress but Celtic fans have also questioned his commitment this season.

Celtic signed Dembele from Fulham in July 2016 for a cross border development fee and put the striker onto a four year contract.
