Sevco have hot a new low by trying to unsettle Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty.

From Scott Allan to Derek McInnes and various others the Ibrox club have favoured public negotiations rather than quietly getting business done with other Scottish clubs.

Yesterday a phone call from a Sevco official was made to someone at Hamilton about Docherty, the outcome of the call was that a proposal or offer should be made to Accies chief Ronnie MacDonald.

Shortly after that call ended the favoured media outlets had their weekend sorted as they dealt with the Ibrox ‘bid’. Similar to Kenny McLean and Jamie Walker in the summer.

With Docherty valued at £700,000 and under contract until 2020 an offer of £300,000 can be anticipated with the first payment coming in May once the season ticket money starts to roll in.

Graeme Murty will acknowledge the bid when he speaks after tonight’s match in Florida but won’t be involved in the sharp end of the negotiations.

So far in the transfer window Sevco have brought in Jamie Murphy and Sean Goss on loan while paying Carlos Pena to play his football for the next year in Mexico, attempts to offload Eduardo Herrera are underway.

The flurry of transfer activity will end in no spending, Dave King will remain as chairman with the day of reckoning drawing closer for Scotland’s newest club.
