Stuart Taylor has walked out on Sevco after a week as Development Squad coach!

The sacking of Pedro Caixinha and the appointment of Graeme Murty as first team coach until the end of the season left a vacancy with the Development Squad who have been coached by Billy Kirkwodd and Peter Lovenkrands.

After the announcement last Tuesday, Taylor promptly walked away and was yesterday appointed as Stoke City assistant to Paul Lambert.

Last week star-maker Craig Mulholland announced: “Stuart Taylor is someone we have been watching for some time and we interviewed him as part of an extensive recruitment process 18 months ago when we appointed Graeme Murty. We have been tracking his career since then.

A former player in the SPFL Premiership, it is his work in the last few years as Aston Villa’s U23 coach, where he initiated some innovative ideas, and as first team coach at Wolves in the Championship which has attracted us to him.”

It seems that the attraction was one way with Taylor quitting Murray Park to be reunited with Lambert who took him to Wolves and Aston Villa in 2014 after two years managing Limerick.

Sevco will now have to find another coach to fill that role but it seems unlikely to be Barry Ferguson.

The former Rangers (IL) midfielder has been advertising his availability since Mark Warburton got the sack but appears to be out of favour with the current Ibrox regime.
