Stuart Armstrong is winning his battle to be able to face Zenit St Petersburg.

The midfielder underwent a hernia operation in Munich after Celtic’s winter break in Dubai and has yet to feature in a game this year.

According to a report in The Sun Armstrong’s recovery is running to schedule with the former Dundee United man likely to be fit for next Thursday’s Europa League clash.

Celtic have still to discover the extent of injuries to Dedryck Boyata and Kris Ajer at Kilmanock although Brendan Rodgers could have TWO right-back’s available by the time the Russians arrive in Glasgow.

Mikel Lustig is making progress from his achilles injury while Anthony Ralston played the full 90 minutes of yesterday’s 3-0 SFA Youth Cup win over St Johnstone at Lennoxtown.

Marvin Compper is also close to being available but is ineligible for the Europa League after playing for RB Leipzig in the Champions League before his move to Celtic.
