The Daily Record has tweeted a qualified apology about their treatment of Liam Miller’s death.
While publishers across Scotland, Ireland and England showed respect over the death of a 36 year old the Record opted for a different approach.
The story was received with horror by fans across all clubs who were shocked by the insensitive treatment of the matter.
We have removed a headline on our online coverage of the death of Liam Miller. It was insensitive and we unreservedly apologise for any offence caused.

Despite the backlash the story remained in place for a couple of hours before someone at the Glasgow based published decided to take action.
The damage had already been done with the nature of the ‘apology’ hardly fulsome.
Plenty of offence was caused, there was no need to add on the ‘apologise for any offence caused’ to a sensitive issue that has been handled horrendously.
The Record has a long running history of problems with the Celtic support ranging from comparing Fergus McCann to Sadam Hussain, the ‘Thugs and Thieves’ headline through to a picture captioned Big Jock Crew.
