Garry Monk was a guest of Brendan Rodgers at training this morning as Celtic prepared to face Zenit St Petersburg.

Monk played under Rodgers at Swansea before going on to manage the Welsh club, Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

In December Middlesbrough decided to change manager leaving Monk to join the growing number of bosses to get the call to take a look at how Rodgers prepares his players.

Paul Hartley and Lee McCulloch spent time at Lennoxtown after being sacked by Dundee and Kilmarnock with Rodgers.

Earlier this season Rodgers talked about the six week crisis that managers in England operate under as clubs look to remain in the EPL or gain promotion.

Monk was sacked by Middlesbrough on Christmas Eve after being in charge for 26 matches.

Tom Rogic played a full part in training at Lennoxtown but isn’t in contention for a starting spot against Zenit.
