Neil McCann has accepted part of the blame for Dundee’s 4-1 home defeat from Ross County.

The Dingwall club arrived at Dens Park without a win in 13 matches and growing question marks over the decision to sack Jim McIntyre and bring in Owen Coyle.

Rather than look at his own failings McCann has spent the build up to the match blaming Celtic for the transfer of Jack Hendry.

As well as losing the £1m defender the Dundee boss saw Scott Allan move to Hibs on transfer deadline day with the midfielder starring in Hibs’ 2-1 win over Sevco at Ibrox.

On Thursday McCann had described it as a horrible week, by 5pm on Saturday it had got much worse with County’s win taking them to just five points behind Dundee.

“I’m not just going to throw the boys under the bus,” the Dundee boss told STV. “I made mistakes today as well and I will take responsibility for some of the mistakes that I made.

“Together we will certainly have to look at that and see ourselves how bad that was, because that’s not good enough.

“I can only apologise to the fans because that doesn’t sit well with me and I know it doesn’t sit well with them and I’m pretty sure it doesn’t sit well with the players.”

Dundee’s next two matches are away to Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle.
