Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he isn’t sure when Leigh Griffiths will be fit again.

The striker scored the winning goals in back-to-back matches against Partick Thistle and Hibs but suffered a calf injury in the win over the Edinburgh side.

Griffiths has endured a roller-coaster season with form and injuries while making a major contribution to Celtic reaching the group phase of the Champions League.

A fortnight after the injury against Hibs Rodgers told the Evening Times: “He is still out but he is responding to treatment. I am not 100% sure when he will be back.

It is unfortunate. He got into a good little rhythm there and then broke down. It was unfortunate bit you seen his frustration the day it happened and there is no-one more frustrated than him.

He had come into the team just after having to sit out because he had come back from Dubai and was due to start but was injured for that game [Brechin] so we just have to deal with it.”

Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard have shared striking duties since Griffiths was injured with the French duo both scoring in the win over Hearts then drawing a blank at Kilmarnock.

With Zenit St Petersburg, Aberdeen and Sevco to be faced over the next month getting Griffiths back to full fitness would be a massive boost for Celtic’s hopes.

The striker has scored 96 Celtic goals since signing from Wolves in January 2014.
