Chris Sutton highlighted the match winning intervention of Charly Musonda after Celtic beat Zentit St Petersburg 1-0.

Brendan Rodgers waited more than a year to work with the kid from Chelsea and finally brought in the young playmaker towards the end of the January transfer window.

Musonda started on the bench against Zenit but came on to telling effect with the precision cross that allowed Callum McGregor to score the only goal of the game.

The goal came five minutes after Musonda had replaced Eboue Kouassi with the tactics of Brendan Rodgers working perfectly.

After the misery of three home defeats in the Champions League the hoops showed that they can bridge the gap and outplayed the highly rated Russians from the first whistle.

There were no slip ups or panics in defence allowing Celtic to head into the return leg with a clean sheet knowing that a goal in Russia will leave Roberto Mancini’s side needing three to progress.
