Peter Lovenkrands has injected some humour into the build up to the Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic by insisting that a Sevco win can’t be taken for granted!

Despite the pain of losing 3-2 to the hoops earlier this month it seems that the Celtic obsession is growing ever stronger.

On Saturday Graeme Murty heads to Motherwell trying to prevent a damaging run of three Premiership defeats in a row with Hibs and Aberdeen joining the battle for second place.

Graeme Murty has two more learning experiences before he takes his side to Hampden but it seems that only one match and the desire to beat Celtic is in the mind of the Ibrox coach.

Lovenkrands told the Daily Record: “It is important we try to get something from this season. The gap to Celtic is definitely closing and we’re there or thereabouts.

It’ll be good to get that win over Celtic but we can’t take anything for granted.

“We beat them in the semi-final two years ago and then we lost to Hibs in the Final. So there is still a lot to do and we have to just take things one game at a time. We can play the Old Firm match, hopefully beat Celtic then go on and win.”

Since formation on 2012 Sevco have played Celtic 11 times, losing eight with three matches drawn including the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final which Mark Warburton’s side won on penalties.

Within a week of that shoot out defeat Ronny Deila announced that he was resigning as Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers was appointed a month later.
