Lewis Morgan began his farewell to Saint Mirren by scoring twice in last night’s 5-0 win over Dumbarton.

The win leaves Jack Ross’ side needing just eight points to clinch promotion with the Paisley side facing three away matches before taking on second placed Livingston at home on April 14.

Almost 4,000 fans turned their back on BBC coverage of the Hungary v Scotland match to head to the 2021 Stadium with Morgan opening the scoring in the 13th minute.

His current team-mates added three more before the loan Celt completed the scoring in the 85th minute.

Speaking after the match to BBC Scotland Saints boss Jack Ross said: “Lewis Morgan is a match-winner. Danny Mullen’s had to be patient but now supporters are starting to see the best of him.

“I want the players to realise how close they are to achieving what we’ve worked so hard for since the middle of June. You don’t produce that kind of performance if you don’t believe you’re on the cusp of achieving that kind of success.”

Morgan took his Saints goal tally for the season to 17 just four days after scoring for Scotland’s u-21 side in the 1-1 draw away to Andorra.

With Saints expected to clinch promotion over the next fortnight Morgan is expected to return to Celtic to step up his training ahead of pre-season preparations which start in June.
