Stuart Armstrong and that whistle

Stuart Armstrong was involved in one of the funniest moments of Scotland’s 1-0 win over Hungary in Budapest.

It was a fairly physical match with the home side not slow to put the boot in or body check their opponents.

During the second half referee Harald Lechner blew for a free kick close to Armstrong who was starting his first match of 2018.

As the Celtic midfielder pulled his head away it appeared that he had been struck by a missile.

However closer inspection of the incident showed that the Armstrong was simply pulling his head away from the sound of the referee’s whistle.

No lasting damage was reported on Armstrong or any of his Celtic team-mates who’ll be back in serious action at the weekend when Celtic take on Ross County in the Premiership.

The former Dundee United midfielder has appeared as a substitute in Celtic’s last two matches and will be looking to start against the side bottom of the table.
